Mistress Masala is a grassroots Desi drag platform that I co-founded in Berlin to celebrate South Asian queer performance.
Concept:
Inspired by Karachi's visual culture, the identity draws from Pakistani truck art, Bollywood and Lollywood posters, early internet era, 2000s graphics, and glittery South Asian greeting GIFs.

Visual Language:
The project reimagined Bombay and Karachi's visual culture in a contemporary Berlin setting — from larger-than-life Bollywood heroines and vintage cinema posters to fluorescent colours, gradients, 3D typography, glitter, lens flares, roses, neon bus decorations, and early 2000s South Asian digital culture.
I also curated a playlist of iconic South Asian songs from the 70s and 80s with their contemporary disco and techno reinterpretations to create a bridge between nostalgia and Berlin’s club culture.
